Namibia keen to make a statement against Kenya

Despite enjoying a squeaky clean home record over their opponents in today’s clash of the titans against the visiting Kenyans – Namibia will take nothing for granted when they entertain the visitors at the Hage Geingob Stadium this afternoon.

Trailing Kenya in second spot on the log table in the CAR Africa Cup Division 1A tourney, hosts Namibia will be out to leapfrog the fast improving Kenya into first place when the two continental giants lock horns in what is expected to be a fiercely contested encounter.

Namibian coach Phil Jones has picked his strongest probable side so far this season, an indication that the hosts are determined to make a statement in continental rugby.

Newly found rugby sensation, flanker Tjiuee Uanivi, will wear the captain’s armband for the second match in succession.

Action gets underway today with United third strings taking on the visiting Seaflower Ocean Swallows from Lüderitz in the quarterfinal of first league activities at 12h00. The main match starts at 15h00 sharp.

This is a crucial match for Namibia’s hopes for the IRB RWC 2019 qualifiers and victory for the hosts will put them firmly at an advantage. The match will be broadcast live by NBC, proudly sponsored by Windhoek Draught.
