MTC employees share warmth with homeless

During the early hours of between 03h00 and 06h00 of Friday, July 20, a team of MTC’s employees with the assistance of the Namibian Police visited the homeless sleeping under the railway bridge behind Game shopping centre, under the Western Bypass bridge in Khomasdal, and in the CBD along L üderitz and Casino streets.

They distributed bed sheets to homeless souls as part of the MTC Employees Care Initiative.
“Thinus Bakkes overnight shelter” was also one of the beneficiaries of the initiative. The employees came together under the theme “Share your Warmth” and surprised the homeless, including street kids, around the capital with 100 warm blankets as well.

“Winter is cold and freezing and the street kids are the ones that are most vulnerable to this season.
Thus, we have decided to extend a helping hand to them and to help make their winter season warm,” expressed one of the employees, Hella Hamata.

“Our hearts feel for these kids who have no decent shelter and consequently have to endure the harsh elements of weather. Thus, at MTC and in the true spirit of Harambee, we are ensuring that nobody is left out in the cold as we feel that this responsibility should all not be left up to the government alone,” said manager of sponsorship & promotions, Joseph Mundjindi.
