Namibia rugby premiership club Wanderers will today be in action against South African outfit Evergreens in their Gold Cup clash at the Wanderers sports field at 15h00.
With today’s match, Wanderers will be out to try and grab every opportunity that comes their way in order to collect maximum points, as a possible victory would see them finish amongst the top teams and qualify to the next round.
Statistically, it will not be a walk in the park for the home side as their qualification to the next round will rely on various factors and outcomes – meaning they have to make sure they win today’s match and equally hope that Impala defeat the Pirates, as it is the only way to boost their chances of progressing.
Since they kicked off their Gold Cup campaign Wanderers have so far enjoyed an assortment of results, having lost their opening clash against Pirates 26-28, before dusting themselves off with a comprehensive 60-29 win over Northam Platinum Rhinos. Just last Saturday, Wanderers suffered another setback when they lost 39-62 to South African club Impalas.
The Gold Cup is a South Africa Rugby Union (SARU) competition for non-university rugby union clubs in South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe. Wanderers are competing on the basis of finishing as runners-up during the 2015 Namibia rugby premiership season.
