People think focus means saying yes to the thing you have got to focus on. But that is not what it means at all. It means saying no to the hundred other good ideas that there are. You have to pick carefully. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you have not found it yet, keep looking. Do not settle. As with all matters of the heart, you will know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Do not settle.
Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try. To all my fellow Grade 12 learners out there, I would like to take this opportunity to tell you that life has now begun and all I want from you all is to study very hard. Do not look back at your past years, you are not going that way.
Remember that there will be zillions of obstacles. There will be doubters. There will be mistakes. But with hard work, there are no limits. Never give up. There is no such thing as an ending of education, it is just a new beginning. Sometimes you have to forget what is gone, appreciate what still remains and look forward to what is coming next.
Examinations should be the main aspect you all could be thinking of currently. Everyone wants to pass Grade 12, but not all candidates pass at the end of the day. Why? Laziness is the main answer here! Every moment in your life counts, so I will advise all of you not to wait for the perfect moment in your life, but take the moment of your books and make it perfect.
These are tough times of your life, but when life puts you in tough situations, do not say “why me?”; just say, ”try me!” I want each and every one of you to have a better and brighter future. Work hard so that you accomplish your goals and later when you lose all your teeth, you just sit, relaxed, and eat what you worked hard for when you were still young and strong. At any given moment you have the power to say,“ Failure is not how the story is going to end!”
People may intend to ask, “Why is God important?”
At Rundu Senior Secondary School we are taught to respect the Almighty God throughout our whole life. God is important because he exists. The very fact that God created the universe and everything in it, including you and me, makes him important. The evidence of God is all around us. We can particularly see this in nature. It is almost impossible to stand on the rim of the Grand Canyon and deny the existence of God. It is such an overpowering, awe-inspiring experience. Things like this point to the existence of God. God is an authority figure who provides boundaries.
I do not mean this in terms of God being the police officer around the corner, who is waiting to catch us in a mistake, but rather in terms of a loving parent who sets up boundaries to keep us safe and on the right track. As my father Adriano Macedo and mother Elizabeth pointed out: “Without God, I will be a loose cannon.”
God’s authority tells us that some things are good and other things just are not okay. These guidelines help us steer clear of things that would be destructive to ourselves or to others. People seem to be hard-wired to look for God. Every culture in the world has a religion of some kind. Everyone has created a god or system of gods and a method for worshiping them.
This seems to indicate that we are predisposed to look for God. God gives meaning to life. We all want to be significant. We all want our lives to have meaning. But if this life is all there is, then there really isn’t a meaning. With, God, however, life has a purpose and a meaning. Remember that God cares about us. John 3:16 tell us that God loved us so much that he sent Jesus to die for us. Romans 5:8 expands on that to say that God sent Jesus to die for us while we were still sinners. God loved us enough to send Jesus to die for us even before we had done anything to deserve that love.
Why is education important in our country? Namibia is a very beautiful country and it needs the support of each and everyone to lift it up. President Hage Geingob really inspires me. He talks about industrialisation in Namibia and I believe that’s all we need to stamp down the high unemployment rate in our country. Lecturers must train students, so that out of the students we should have qualified lawyers, doctors, agriculturalists and many more. Education helps people become better citizens. Educated people are aware of the socio-economic scenario of the country and can help in the progress of the country. Whether it is a simple thing like using water sparingly or taking a bus to work instead of using the bike or car in order to save fuel, the educated mass somehow or the other knows how to contribute towards the country’s well-being. One of the reasons for their awareness is because they have been taught these values in school, colleges and workplaces. Education shows the importance of voting.
It helps to decide whom to vote for in order to make a difference in the economy of the country positively. Being educated helps in deciding why to vote for a particular party over the other. Uneducated people are unaware of the importance of voting. Education helps in getting jobs. It goes without saying that unless a person is educated, he or she cannot get a worthwhile job. Unemployment is a serious obstacle in the development and progress of the nation.
The economic status of so many countries in the world is pathetic, due to lack of educated people who do not posses adequate skills and thus are unemployed. Education also helps single mothers. Single mothers who are not educated cannot get a decent job to support their children. Being educated can help a single mom to find a job, as well as make them aware of certain schemes such as child support benefits and ways to reach for each benefit, like a CSA phone number child support agency to contact the agencies that offer such help.
This can help them in the better upbringing of their children, helping them to become responsible citizens of the country. Education is the best equaliser.
Hardships often prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny. Life goes on, whether you choose to move on and take a chance in the unknown, or stay behind, locked in the part, thinking of what could have been. Keep in mind that learning is a gift. Even when pain is your teacher or lecturer. Learn to dream, because if you can dream it, you can do it. Reach high, for the stars lie hidden in your soul. Dream deep, for every dream precedes the goal. Plan your life very well and if plan A does not work, the alphabet has 25 letters! Change the plan, but never the goal. To get something you have never had, you have to do something you have never done. Work hard like never before, but take note, “good things come to those who wait!”
