Namibia will send an Under-19 netball team to the biannual AUSC Region Five Under-20 Youth Ball Games to be hosted by Angola in Luanda, next week. The team has assembled in the capital and has been hard with extensive training sessions under the watchful eye of title-winning coach Suzette Burden. The squad leaves for Angola next Tuesday and those who have watched the girls going through their paces expressed satisfaction with the progress made within a short space of time. Burden is in a high spirits and strongly believes the team has what it takes to make a serious statement at the youth tournament.
“I’m very proud of these girls, they have commitment and are dedicated and willing to put their bodies on the line for their motherland.
Apart from hosts Angola, South Africa, Lesotho and Zimbabwe are all going to join Namibia to complete the five-nation line up in the netball discipline to be played on a round-robin format.
The Namibian team has been hard at training and playing in warm up matches against local clubs over the last two weeks. The team is demographically well represented with squad members from Oshakati, Tsumeb, Otjiwarongo, Gobabis, Hardap and Khomas.
